(1) QUT is committed to promoting the mutual benefit to be gained through the interaction of QUT with its graduates and other alumni. This Policy describes the role, objectives and membership of QUT Alumni, as established under section 33 of the Queensland University of Technology Act 1998 (2) This Policy applies to all activities and programs associated with QUT Alumni. (3) QUT Alumni includes the following categories of persons: (4) The roll of all members of QUT Alumni is maintained by Alumni and Engagement, and contains the full name of the member, the membership category, and contact information to allow for participation by the member in the affairs of QUT Alumni. (5) QUT Alumni serve the following objectives: (6) At least two of the four additional members of QUT Council appointed by Council will be QUT Alumni who are not students or members of the university’s academic staff or professional staff (QUT Act 1998 (Qld) s16). QUT alumni will be appointed according to Council Procedure 6 - Nomination of Prospective Council Members. (7) QUT Alumni meetings will be called and conducted in accordance with procedures approved by Vice-President Engagement and Chief Marketing Officer. Fifteen QUT Alumni members will form a quorum. (8) QUT Alumni and Engagement facilitates and supports Alumni activities and communicates these regularly to QUT Alumni. In consultation with Alumni and Engagement, faculties liaise with their respective graduates on faculty-based Alumni activities and for appointment of Alumni representatives. (9) QUT Outstanding Alumni Awards recognise graduates of QUT and its predecessor institutions for exceptional professional, academic or research achievement and/or contribution to the community at the local, state, national or international levels. The awards are offered annually. (10) Eligibility criteria for the award, the nomination and selection processes, and the composition of the judging panel is recommended by the Vice-President Engagement and Chief Marketing Officer.Alumni Policy
